Gabon: a Former Eramet Executive Appointed Minister of Oil

The junta that took power last week in Gabon named Marcel Abeke, former director of Comilog, the Gabonese subsidiary of Eramet, as oil minister on Saturday.

Marcel Abeke, who was also executive director in charge of group development in Africa for Eramet, had held the position of High Commissioner of the Republic of Gabon since March.

The Gabonese economy depends greatly on oil exports. Around 200,000 barrels of crude oil per day are produced in the country.

The Prime Minister of the transitional government Raymond Ndong Sima, appointed Thursday, announced the appointment of Colonel Maurice Tocui as Minister of the Environment.

Mays Mouissi, an economist and consultant based in Paris, becomes Minister of the Economy. Brigadier General Brigitte Onkanowa is appointed Minister Delegate to the Presidency in charge of Defense.
