Morocco, Mauritania Enter Strategic Partnership in Professional Training

Morocco and Mauritania signed an accord on Monday in Rabat, to start a three-year cooperation program to strengthen cooperation in employment and professional training.

The partnership is set to extend from 2024 to 2026, amplifying the strides made since the establishment of a memorandum of understanding in 2021 in Nouakchott.

The collaborative effort, born out of the eighth session of the Morocco-Mauritania joint high commission, takes a holistic approach to bolstering bilateral ties.

Spearheaded by Morocco’s Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills, Younes Sekkouri, and his Mauritanian counterpart, Zeinebou Mint Ahmednah, the partnership seeks to revolutionize professional training and employment opportunities.

Sekkouri emphasized the dynamic nature of the collaboration, and that it aims to achieve tangible outcomes in the employment sector.

“Beyond diplomatic ties, this initiative is a concrete step towards creating opportunities and empowering our youth,” he asserted.

Drawing attention to Morocco’s wealth of expertise, especially in aerospace and automotive industries, Sekkouri highlighted the potential for these investments to play a pivotal role in reshaping Mauritania’s economic landscape.

“We possess significant expertise that could benefit our Mauritanian friends, especially in the field of professional training, thanks to the substantial investments that the Kingdom has undertaken to support thriving sectors such as aerospace and automotive,” he underscored.

The high-level discussions explored avenues for strengthened bilateral cooperation. Mint Ahmednah echoed Sekkouri’s sentiments, emphasizing the strategic nature of the Mauritanian delegation’s visit.

“Our visit to the Kingdom is not just symbolic; it’s a strategic move to tap into the wealth of knowledge Morocco has accumulated in employment and professional training,” she stated.

As Morocco shares its wealth of experience, Mauritania is positioned to harness transformative insights that promise to reshape its employment landscape.
