Morocco Warns Drivers of 3-day Windy Weather, Dust Storms

Morocco’s Ministry of Equipment urged road and highway users on Monday to exercise caution and vigilance due to strong gusts of wind and dust storms expected on Friday and over the weekend across the country.

The ministry called on all road and highway users to exercise caution and advised them to postpone travel until weather conditions improve.

This comes following a weather alert predicting strong gusts of wind with dust storms in several regions starting tonight until Sunday.
The regions that will witness wind and strong storms include Fahs Anjra, Tanger-Assilah, Tetouan, M’diq Fnidek, Sidi Ifni, and Tan Tan.
Guelmim, Assa-Zag, and Es-Semara are also expected to witness the same weather.

The ministry encouraged road users to contact numbers of the Emergency Center of the General Directorate of Roads and the Call center of Autoroute du Maroc for more information or concerns.

The ministry has been issuing several alerts after tragic accidents that claimed at least three lives due to dust storms that hit Morocco in October.

Similar phenomena recently hit several other provinces across the country, which made visibility almost impossible for highway and road users.
